NewJeans has been battling a long-running saga with ADOR and their parent company HYBE, and just when it was starting to seem like it could all be over so that the girls can focus on their music careers, another problem rares its head.
I’m sure the Bunnies – as NewJeans’ fanbase is called – won’t be delighted over this ongoing struggle.
NewJeans Exposes ADOR For “Mistreatment” and “Manipulation”
The girls of NewJeans are taking a stand against what they deem is ADOR’s internally corrupt framework. Not far behind is the parent company HYBE, who the girls have warned that they would be terminating their contract unless a set of demands was met.
The demands include an apology from one of the company’s managers, who NewJeans accuses of bullying, and the reinstatement of their producer Min Hee-jin.
In the Nov. 28 press conference, the K-pop giants announced that they were officially going their separate ways from ADOR.
Hanni said, “We have faced mistreatment not just toward us but also toward our staff, countless preventions and contradictions, deliberate miscommunication, and manipulation regarding multiple areas. It is a company that no longer has any sincerity in the art of music that is created, is rather fixated on appearing like a well-working company despite only having thoughts about making money, and does not have any conscience about the negative effect they create through their non-authentic means.”
She continued: “This is not the type of work ethic we respect nor want to be a part of, and to continue working under a company with no intention of protecting NewJeans would only do us harm. So that is why we, the five of us together, have agreed to leave ADOR. And for us to clearly express ourselves before misleading information is released regarding this, we have chosen to hold an emergency press conference today.”
They then promised fans that the mindset once they leave ADOR would be to create new music. “We really wish to be able to release new music for Bunnies, next year, as soon as possible, whenever. We really hope that we have the opportunity to meet you guys from all around the world,” Danielle shared.
In the conference, the girls admitted that they may need to do a name change once their contract is terminated.
ADOR Announces NewJeans’ Contract Is Still Intact, Claiming They Reached Out to the Girls For A Resolution
ADOR quickly responded to the press conference with a statement of their own.
They said, “We regret that a press conference to announce the termination of the exclusive contract was planned and conducted even before receiving a response to the certification of contents and without sufficient review.”
The company went on to stress that, “ADOR, as a party of the exclusive contracts, has not violated the contracts, and claiming that trust has been unilaterally broken does not constitute grounds for termination. The exclusive contracts between ADOR and the NewJeans members remain valid. Therefore, we expect them to continue their scheduled activities ahead together with ADOR as they have until now.”
They alleged that they’ve made multiple contacts with the five-member band to try and come to a better resolution. “We have requested several meetings with the artists, but they were not carried out. We hope that even now, we can open our hearts and have sincere conversations together.”
No one knows how either plans to proceed after this, but subscribe if you want to keep up to date with this ongoing saga.
