BELIFT LAB  issued a very serious warning to critics of its K-pop artists, particularly young female group, ILLIT. The girls seem to be the main target of a hateful campaign. The agency’s statement revealed that legal action will be taken due to a huge increase of hostile online activities. Read on to find all the details.

The Official Statement

The official statement, originally written in Korean and posted on Weverse, was translated by Soompi. Notably, the statement about the K-pop stars didn’t  mince words. BELIFT LAB started with a confirmation that they are “actively responding to all illegal activities directed at our artists ILLIT,” which also includes “insults, the spread of false information, personal attacks, and defamation.”

The agency rightly noted that “some members [of ILLIT] are minors.” However, the kids are incessantly subjected to “malicious criticism and slander through anonymous communities” without a break.

The company felt compelled to take a step in escalating their fight against it. “We have recently identified a sharp increase in malicious posts targeting ILLIT and its members,” the statement added. As a direct result of this, BELIFT LAB will be “strengthening our monitoring efforts and responding even more firmly.”

Strong Warnings

The agency gave a warning that if someone deliberately wrote a post with the intent of causing harm then such an action “is a criminal act subject to legal punishment without exception.” Additionally, they warned that deleting posts to avoid prosecution is useless, as their system records evidence “in real time.”

Actually, the message seems consistent with the agency’s long-standing principle of “zero tolerance, no settlements, and no leniency.” BELIFT LAB promises to track down perpetrators posting on any platform, whether domestic or international social media sites. In fact, anonymous forums won’t be spared, with the agency vowing to pursue “criminal penalties…imposed.”

Previous Problems For ILLIT

Previously, the K-pop group faced similar issues. Since ILLIT debuted in March 2024, the agency lodged complaints against hundreds of people. Apparently, the offenses range from defamation to harassment, among others. The agency’s actions led to good results, including the arrest and imprisonment of several creators for making deep-fake videos of the girl group.

Nevertheless, not all fans are critics, and many of them assist the company by reporting horrid content. The statement also thanked them for helping out against all the hate. Anyone who wants to help stop it can make a report via the “HYBE Artist Rights Violation Reporting Center.”

A Heavy Crackdown

The label wrapped up the press release by suggesting that the fight is far from over, and going forward, they intend to carry out a massive crackdown.
