The unveiling of BLACKPINK ROSÉ’s debut solo,  ‘rosie’ was like a stick of dynamite from the get-go, with lead single ‘APT’ featuring Bruno Mars spending several weeks atop the Billboard Global songs chart.

She followed it up with ‘number one girl’ and ‘toxic till the end,’ and while neither achieved the same feats as ‘APT.,’ it truly demonstrated the BLACKPINK vocalist’s creative range. Released on December 6, ‘rosie’ helped the Korean-New Zealander set a new record on the Billboard 200 chart.

ROSÉ’s Debut Solo Album Achieves Significant New Chart Feat

Released on December 6, the 12-track record was an instant smash with fans and received countless praises from critics. Euphoria Magazine described the record as “a beautiful and emotional album that offers more than just catchy melodies, brilliant vocal performances and well-cooked instrumentals. It offers vulnerability, intimacy, and a deep dive into the type of relationship situations we often find ourselves on. In short you feel everything, even the ones you don’t relate to.”

Billboard praised it for being “a thoughtfully considered portrait of relationship complications and personal complexities, impressively splitting the difference between intimacy and arena-ready pop,” and The New York Times praised ROSÉ as “the epitome of an international pop strategist.”

Fans Drove the Solo Album To Third Spot On the Billboard 200

To further prove the album’s worth, fans streamed and bought it so much it landed on the third spot on the Billboard 200 chart, making it the highest charting effort by any Korean female soloist in history. It is also the biggest US debut by a K-pop female soloist.

ROSÉ was deeply involved in the creative process of the album, as she co-wrote and executive produced the project in its entirety. The album’s lead single has managed to amass 2 billion global streams to date, whilst holding at number one on the Billboard Global 200 chart for the past 8 consecutive weeks.

She promoted the album by going on interviews and performing the album’s standout singles live, including at The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon, where she performed a medley of ‘APT.’ and ‘toxic till the end.’

Her influence extends beyond music to fashion, as she’s managed to land lucrative contracts with renowned brands like Saint Laurent, Tiffany & Co, Rimowa and Puma.
