The ongoing dispute between ADOR and NewJeans has taken another turn, with ADOR expressing “deep disappointment” regarding the group’s recent announcement of a suspension of activities. This follows NewJeans‘ (NJZ) performance at ComplexCon in Hong Kong, where they hinted at a potential hiatus.

ADOR’s Official Statement: Disappointment and Commitment

On the 24th, ADOR released an official statement addressing NewJeans‘ (NJZ) announcement. The agency stated,

“We are deeply disappointed by the decision to proceed with a performance under a name other than NewJeans, despite the court’s ruling, and by the unilateral announcement of their suspension of activities.”

ADOR reiterated its commitment to the group, emphasizing,

“ADOR is committed to doing its best for NewJeans under the valid exclusive contract.”

They also expressed a desire for dialogue, stating,

“We hope to meet with the artists soon to discuss the future.”

NewJeans’ ComplexCon Performance and Suspension Announcement

Prior to ADOR‘s statement, NewJeans (NJZ) performed as headliners at ComplexCon in Hong Kong on the 23rd (local time). During their performance, the group made a significant announcement, telling fans,

“In fact, today’s performance might be our last for a while.”

They further explained,

“We have decided to suspend all activities in compliance with the court’s ruling. This was not an easy decision, but it is necessary for us at this time.”

Court Ruling in ADOR’s Favor

The announcement came shortly after the Seoul Central District Court’s Civil Division 50 ruled in favor of ADOR on the 21st. The court accepted ADOR‘s injunction request for “the preservation of agency status and the prohibition of signing advertising contracts” against the five members of NewJeans.

Following the ruling, ADOR expressed gratitude for the court’s decision, stating,

“We deeply appreciate the wise judgment of the court. With the legal confirmation of ADOR’s status as NewJeans’ agency, we will take full responsibility in supporting the artists moving forward.”

The entertainment industry and fans alike are watching closely to see how this dispute unfolds and what the future holds for NewJeans (NJZ).
