When BTS went on hiatus in 2022 to complete their mandatory military enlistment, the seven members that make up the global k-pop group decided to perform individual activities for the time being.
Jung Kook, RM, V, Jin, Jimin, and Suga have all achieved considerate success with their solo projects, and now J-Hope is joining their ranks. Not to say that he was exactly under the radar with his solo projects, but with ‘Killin’ It Girl,’ he cements his status as one of the most successful members of one of the most successful boy bands of all time.
J-Hope’s ‘Killin’ It Girl’ Lands In Billboard’s Top 40
J-Hope has landed his first hit in the top 40 of Billboard Hot 100 thanks to his collaboration with American rapper GloRilla. Whilst this is an impressive individual feat, it is worthwhile noting that he has scored multiple No. 1 hits as a member of BTS.
Global ambassador #Jhope causes a sensation as he arrives at the #LouisVuitton Men's SS26 show in Paris before a huge screaming crowd, looking immaculate in an amazing suit with his pink LV bag! 👏🕺💥🗼🇫🇷🌟🤩🔥 👑#jhopexLouisVuitton @BTS_twt pic.twitter.com/q63eWs9cyS

‘Killin’ It Girl’ serves as the last of the three singles released by the singer and rapper in support of his HOPE ON THE STAGE tour. Lyrically, the hip hop track celebrates love at first sight, as J-Hope and GloRilla trade lines marveling about how awesome their connection is.
“Runway ready, gotta get some confetti / ‘Cause we gotta celebrate like it’s your birthday (Woo)/ Looking like a twenty, from Korea to Miami / Oh, I wanna get with you in the worst way,” J-Hope raps in honor of this superb lady he just met. On GloRilla’s part, she more or less showers praises on herself than dishing it to J-Hope, as she confidently raps, “Might take your man and tell you go take it to trial (Bitch) / I’m dead serious, the baddest chick alive (Hey) / Baddies get inspired, bottles gettin’ poured up.”
In an interview with People, J-Hope revealed that the song explores “an emotional rush and magnetic pull toward someone. So I’d love for it to feel bold, sensual, and have that kind of energy that makes you want to play the track on repeat.” He added, “Lately, I’ve been especially drawn to artists whose powerful presence truly stands out. I was confident that GloRilla’s presence on the track would bring exceptional synergy.”
The accompanying music video has already accumulated over 20 million views on YouTube and counting. Perhaps this can be attributed to the unique way the scenes in the video is shot, giving fans a sort of cinematic experience. And the dancing? Imma leave that to you to judge.
