Concerned about a recent spike in online slander, a group of Cha Eun Woo‘s fans have organized a truck protest right outside Fantagio‘s Gangnam headquarters. Their message, emblazoned on LED screens, is a clear and unified plea to the agency: it’s time to step up and fiercely protect their artist from baseless defamation.
The truck, a common sight in South Korean public demonstrations, arrived at Fantagio‘s doorstep displaying urgent demands. Brightly lit LED screens flashed messages like,
“Take strong action against the baseless slander targeting Cha Eun Woo,”
and a firm request for career support:
“Protect the artist and support his individual activities and long-term growth.”
The action stems from a noticeable uptick in malicious rumors and hurtful comments directed at the ASTRO member across various corners of the internet.
Following the heartfelt release of “A Letter in the Wind” (also known as “In the Dream”), the beautiful tribute song featuring the voices of 22 close friends honoring the late ASTRO member Moonbin, a disturbing reaction emerged online. Some users shamefully accused Cha Eun Woo and Fantagio of exploiting Moonbin’s memory for profit. This callous accusation understandably ignited fury and deep hurt within the fandom, who saw the song as a sincere act of remembrance.
Adding insult to injury, another unfounded rumor had circulated just last month, falsely claiming that Cha Eun Woo had merely sent flowers to the funeral of the late actress Kim Sae Ron, implying a lack of respect. This claim was quickly proven false, yet the initial misinformation caused significant distress and fueled unwarranted negativity towards the actor and singer.
Driven by these repeated instances of harmful speculation, Cha Eun Woo’s fans have articulated their frustration and expectations in no uncertain terms. Their collective voice, amplified by the truck protest, insists on a change in Fantagio’s approach:
“Since his debut nine years ago, Cha Eun Woo has never taken legal action, and as a result, malicious attacks and groundless rumors have only worsened. We demand the agency take firm measures to protect him.”
