Genie, Make a Wish stars Kim Woo-bin and Bae Suzy. This week, a teaser dropped for the Netflix show. Read on to watch the sneak-peek, find out more about the South Korean production, and how fans of K-drama reacted.

The Teaser

Filmed in Korea and put together for Netflix, the teaser showed some stunning graphics. There’s not much else shown in it, but it lines up with the promised synopsis. The romantic fantasy showed the Genie named Jinn, who had awoken after a 1,000-year sleep.

The genie was telling Ka-young all about how she could make a wish. At the time, Ka-young stood in a bleak desert, holding her lamp. Then, as her lamp started to brighten, the genie arrived, fading in beautifully.

Some Interesting Footage & Dialogue

It seemed interesting because although K-drama fans know the genie as Jinn, the lamp spoke of Iblis. Soompi noted that it translates into “another name for Satan.” So, it seems the Genie, Make a Wish story does have an element of horror.

Some of the dialogue included:

I will scour the world and find you again. Remember this. I will seek you out, and my name is Iblis.”

A poster for the Netflix show also said, “Come now, to corruption.” So, beautiful Ka-young might face some terrible temptation as time goes by.

Viewers React In The Comments

K-drama fans are already excited about HUNTR/X’s song, ‘Golden,’ from Netflix’s K-Pop Demon Hunters, which hit the top spot on Billboard. The song made history as the first fictional K-Pop act to top the chart. And now, they are all excited about more fiction from Korea.

One viewer on YouTube wrote, “Uncontrollably Fond Duo and the WRITER of GOBLIN, The King Eternal Monarch, The Glory and Descendants of the Sun, Kim Eun Sook. OH WE ARE HERE FOR IT!”
