(G)I-DLE Rebrands to I-DLE for Highly Anticipated May Comeback

(G)I-DLE has officially rebranded all their social media accounts to simply “I-DLE,” signaling a return to their original name as they gear up for a May comeback.

For those who have been following their journey since the beginning, this name change might feel like a full-circle moment. When Cube Entertainment first announced their debut back in 2018, the name on everyone’s lips was “Idle.” However, when they officially stepped onto the scene, they did so as “(여자) 아이들” – “(Yeoja) Idle” or “(Girl) Idle” in Korean. While fans affectionately shortened it to just “Idle,” the parentheses and the “G” remained a constant in their official English branding.

Now, as they embark on a new era following their contract renewals with Cube Entertainment at the end of last year, I-DLE is embracing their original moniker. This rebrand, coinciding with the unveiling of an unconventional teaser clip for their upcoming music, feels deliberate and significant. They are returning to their core identity as they prepare to unleash new music upon the world.

This comeback is particularly meaningful for fans as it marks the group’s first full-group activity since each of the members embarked on their own successful solo endeavors. Minnie captivated listeners with her first solo album ‘HER‘ in January, showcasing a new facet of her artistry. Following suit, Yuqi dropped her digital single ‘Radio (Dum-Dum)‘ in March.

I-DLE is set to deliver not one, but two new releases in May. First, a special mini-album is set to drop on May 2nd at 6 PM KST, promising an initial taste of their new direction. This will be followed by their highly anticipated 8th mini-album, scheduled for release on May 19th at 6 PM KST.
