He then directly addressed the core issue, clarifying his relationship with Kim Sae Ron.

“The late Kim Sae Ron and I were in a relationship for about a year, five years ago — which is four years before Queen of Tears aired. We did not date while she was a minor.”

He further detailed their relationship, stating,

“We dated for about a year in 2020, four years before Queen of Tears aired. At the time, I denied the relationship. It’s only natural that people criticize me for that, and I understand if they don’t believe what I’m saying about our relationship. We were a normal couple like anyone else. We had mutual feelings for each other, and eventually, we broke up with time.”

He also stated that contact was minimal after their breakup and that he knew she was dating someone else during her DUI incident.

Kim Soo Hyun also addressed the rumors surrounding Kim Sae Ron’s passing, emphatically stating,

“It is not true that she made a tragic choice because I turned my back on her or because my agency didn’t pay off her debts.”

Throughout the press conference, Kim Soo Hyun appeared visibly distressed, even shedding tears. He expressed deep anxiety over the public exposure of his private life through YouTube channels, admitting,

“I’ve always thought of myself as a coward. It took me a long time to stand here today. Every time something about my private life was exposed, I kept thinking, ‘Maybe I should just tell everything tomorrow,’ or ‘Let’s just end this hellish situation.’”

In a decisive move, Kim Soo Hyun announced a 12 billion KRW (approximately 9 million USD) lawsuit against those he alleges are spreading false information. His legal representative stated,

“To clarify the facts, we have decided to pursue both criminal complaints and civil lawsuits against the involved parties.”

The lawsuit targets individuals claiming to be relatives of Kim Sae Ron, including a person identifying herself as her aunt, as well as the operators of the YouTube channel “Garo Sero Institute” (Gaseyeon). These parties have repeatedly accused Kim Soo Hyun of grooming, emotional abuse, and neglect, claims he vehemently denies. This legal action signals a strong stance by Kim Soo Hyun against what he perceives as a campaign of misinformation, and the entertainment industry is now watching closely as the legal battle unfolds.
