BTS are rumored to have recorded, or just completed recording, a Michael Jackson number in a collab. Michael and the K-Pop band are popular, but responses seem mixed. Read on to find out more.

The Rumors Seem To carry Weight

India Times reported on the rumors, and they seem to be very strong. Actually, fans heard that BTS were recording in LA recently. The latest news suggests that the boy band is very busy. They allegedly recorded a previously unreleased Michael Jackson song at Grouse Lodge Studios in Ireland. Remember, this is where Jackson worked back in 2006.

The rumors are strong – X via Reddit

Apparently, the BTS track is part of a big collab and is slated to be on a tribute album that reportedly will be released next year. More details emerged, and the tribute album is being produced by Rodney Jerkins. Michael Jackson’s estate is on board with it, and there might be a documentary as well.

Fans Have Mixed Reactions

K-Pop is very popular, and so was Michael Jackson, but the idea of mixing the two doesn’t appeal to everyone. Those who are naysayers voiced their opinions on Reddit. One of them wrote:

It p***es me off that the estate continues to disrespect MJ and the fan community this way. This isn’t the first time they’ve lent unreleased/unheard music to other artists. I don’t care who the artist is, how big of a fan they are, etc. The estate hasn’t released “new” music in over a decade. This is all a big middle finger to us all and to MJ.

Others also preferred not to mix K-Pop with Michael. One of them commented, “I can see why most fans are unhappy with this: the estate has been f***ing up a lot of MJ projects for a year or so.” But, there were some good responses as well.

Others Like The Idea?

It’s an interesting mix of responses, and those who are not purists liked the idea of the Asian band. One of them wrote, “Honestly, no one will ever do it like MJ, but BTS is very disciplined. Plus, I know they’ll give even more than the 1000% they always do, especially since we’re talking about a legend like MJ…You can tell they’re very respectful of MJ’s legacy.”
