SHINee‘s Key, known for his sharp wit and no-nonsense attitude, publicly called out rookie group NCT WISH for their perceived lack of enthusiasm during a recent radio show appearance.

The incident unfolded on the April 22 broadcast of SBS Power FM’s ‘Cultwo Show,’ where solo artist Chuu and the members of NCT WISH joined as guests. While Chuu charmed listeners with her signature bright energy and engaging reactions, the demeanor of the NCT WISH members painted a starkly different picture, quickly becoming the focal point of online criticism.

Throughout the visual radio broadcast, viewers noticed the NCT WISH members often kept their gazes lowered, offered brief and sometimes mumbled responses, and generally displayed a passive and seemingly unenthusiastic attitude. This lack of engagement was particularly noticeable during a live challenge segment, where only a handful of members offered minimal participation, leaving the majority largely unresponsive.

The stark contrast between Chuu’s vibrant energy and NCT WISH‘s subdued behavior didn’t go unnoticed by viewers. Many online comments expressed disappointment, criticizing the rookie group for seemingly not putting in sufficient effort during their appearance.

Adding fuel to the fire, a message left during the live broadcast by their SM Entertainment senior, SHINee‘s Key, has now gone viral. His straightforward and somewhat stern comment, “I’m watching. So, do better,” didn’t go unnoticed.

Key’s direct message has been interpreted by many as a clear warning to the junior group, emphasizing the importance of professionalism and engagement, especially during public appearances. Coming from a respected senior with years of experience in the industry, his words carry significant weight.

However, amidst the criticism, some fans and viewers have offered a more understanding perspective. NCT WISH is a relatively young group, still in their second year since debut, and includes foreign members. This has led some to suggest that their perceived awkwardness might stem from a lack of extensive broadcasting experience or potential language barriers, rather than a deliberate lack of effort.

Do you think Key’s public warning was a necessary wake-up call for NCT WISH, or was it too harsh considering their rookie status and potential inexperience? Let us know in the comments below!
