BTS may be on hiatus, but the fans are apparently not. ARMY has continued to support the previous releases of the band in anticipation of their 2025 reunion. So far, all the individual members of the global k-pop band has released solo projects, but their group projects continue to push enormous weights regardless.

BTS Sets A New YouTube Record With Seven Videos Surpassing A Billion Views

The seven-member band continues to collect honors left and right, even though group activities have paused until the boys complete their mandatory military enlistment. This time round, they’ve claimed the group with the most-viewed videos in the billion-club honor.

Seven of their videos have managed to surpass a billion views on the streaming platform. According to a report released by BIGHIT MUSIC, BTS’ video ‘Butter’ became the group’s seventh video to reach the coveted milestone when it surpassed a billion views at exactly 11:16 p.m. KST on Nov. 28. If I didn’t know better, I’d say it’s a jolly early Christmas present. And maybe it is.

Other BTS videos to achieve this feat are ‘Fake Love,’ DNA,‘ Boy With Luv,’ ‘Dynamite,’ ‘MIC Drop (Steve Aoki Remix),’ and ‘IDOL.’

BTS originally released the video for ‘Butter’ on May 21, 2021 at 1 p.m. KST. Calculating from its time of release, this means it took the video 6 months, 7 days, and 10 hours to earn its first one billion views.

While the band was formed in 2010, they made their official debut in 2013, and since then, they’ve managed to accumulate a massive audience worldwide due to their musical style that cuts across hip hop, pop, EDM, R&B and others. Their lyrics further convey a coming-of-age story, with stories of self-love, heartbreak, loss, school age youth and many others that deeply appeal to their global audience.

BTS officially made their international cross-over in 2017, after releasing two albums, with the second being their first to sell a million copies in South Korea. They promptly became the first Korean ensemble to receive a Gold certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for their single ‘Mic Drop.’ They achieved another impressive feat when they became the first k-pop group to top the Billboard 200 with their 2018 album, ‘Love Yourself: Tear.’
