Spread the love

You want to see a love so intense it tears down anything that stands on its way? Well, put down JTBC’s ‘The Nice Guy’ into your watchlist and have count down the days to its premiere.

It tells the story of a Park Seok Chul (Lee Dong Wook), who is the eldest grandson of a third-generation gangster family. The twist? He has a pure heart and his first love Kang Mi Young (Lee Sung Kyung) wants to be a singer.

Er… I’m sat.

‘The Nice Guy’ Releases Poster Featuring Lee Dong Wook

Just to get us tasting for more, JTBC recently released a poster for the new drama featuring lead star Lee Dong Wook. In the poster, he is sitting alone with a bruised face. His gaze is described as one of emptiness, possibly signifying the immense forces he has to battle. The caption somewhat confirms this, as the translated version reads, “It’s okay if my life gets a little ruined.”

Well, per the show’s description, there’s three things he’s willing to risk it all to protect: family, job, and love.

Speaking on the show’s central theme, the production team revealed: “Park Seok Chul’s journey to find new life and love, even amid the harsh trials of reality, will deliver both heartwarming laughter and deeply moving empathy. Viewers can look forward to an emotional noir drama that Lee Dong Wook will bring to life as he masterfully navigates everything from intense action to deep romance.”

Apart from Wook who plays Park Seok-cheol, the show will star Lee Sung-kyung Kang Mi-young – an ambitious girl who dreams of becoming a singer. The two leads will be joined by Ryu Hye-young, who will play Park Seok-hee, Seok-cheol’s upright younger sister.

Oh Na-ra’s Park Seok-gyeong and Park Hoon have been confirmed as supporting characters. Oh Na-ra’s character is the eldest sister of Seok-cheol and the eldest of the three Park siblings.

Park Hong-soo and Song Hae-sung will be directing the script penned by Kim Woon-kyung and Kim Hyo-seok.

The show will premiere on July 18, 2025, and air every Friday at 8 20:50 (KST) after that.
