world with her earworm ‘APT.’ featuring Bruno Mars, and then she released a critically acclaimed 12-song album, ‘rosie.’
But ‘APT.’ didn’t only mark the biggest song of the K-pop star’s career, it still continues to notch the top spot on many charts by being the biggest consumed song on the planet, excluding US streaming data.
Its reign on the global charts has continued in the weeks since its release, and looks set to continue well into the New Year.
Rosé Achieves This Incredible Feat With This Chart Achievement
With ‘APT.’ spending its ninth week atop the Billboard Global Excl. US for nine weeks, the New Zealander is well on her way to claiming the longest run of any song on the chart. You see, only three other songs trump hers, and they’re all tied at 13 turns.
With ‘APT.’ spending nine weeks, she joins an elite club controlled by the likes of Gayle’s ‘ABCDEFU,’ Olivia Rodrigo’s ‘Drivers License,’ The Kid Laroi and Justin Bieber’s ‘Stay,’ and Jung Kook and Latto’s ‘Seven.’
The songs that are yet to be beaten include Harry Styles’s ‘As It Was,’ Miley Cyrus’ Grammy-winning song ‘Flowers,’ and Mariah Carey’s Christmas smash ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You.’
Since Carey’s ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ keeps returning to the charts nearly every year during the December holidays, it’s possible it may yet go on to a historic run. But with ‘APT.’ still a huge hit in our lives even in 2025, who’s to say it won’t go on to set a history-making record? I mean, it did hold its own against a plethora of new Christmas tunes and classics.
At present, it also ties BTS’ Jung Kook’s ‘Seven’ as the longest running single by any K-pop musician in the history of the Billboard Global Excl. US. This may well change as we continue to “Apt. Apt.” into the New Year.
