WINTER and Jungwon’s Management Firmly Deny Dating Rumors Between Both Artists
WINTER and Jungwon are involved in an ongoing relationship scandal after pictures of the stars hanging out together were circulated online. The Dec. 11 post alleged that the K-pop performers were seen at a whisky bar in Seoul’s Cheongdam neighborhood. This led fans to speculate that WINTER and Jungwon were secretly dating.
WINTER’s representatives, SM Entertainment, released a strong statement refuting the rumors, even going as far as to threaten legal action against all parties promoting the rumors. They said: “[The rumors] are groundless. The person who circulated the photo contacted a media outlet with the intention of monetary gain, attempting to communicate with us directly. However, when the outlet refused by saying that they cannot help contact [us] for reports with the purpose of monetary gain, they seemed to have maliciously circulated [the photo]. We will be taking legal action.”
Jungwon’s agency, BELIFT LAB, also weighed in on it, saying, “The dating rumors are not true. BELIFT LAB will take strong action against any acts that infringe on the privacy of our artists or create or spread malicious rumors.”
The denials are coming after online users started to suggest that the two are having couple moments with their choice of style and clothing. For example, fans found similarities between Adidas zip tops and framed glasses separately won by the performers. The shipping has more or less torn the fandom apart, as some argue that the so-called “couple items” are actually just common clothing among idols.
