ILLIT Wins Best New Artist At MAMA Awards Following Historic Win At Japan Record Awards
Let’s just say that November is ILLIT’s month and they’ve got no choice but to keep scooping in the big wins and praises at awards show this year. ILLIT took home the award of the Best New Female Artist, beating out other acts like BABYMONSTER and MEOVV. They also received a nomination in the Best Dance Performance Female Group for the fan-favorite song, ‘Magnetic.’
To top this all off, the rising K-pop act partnered with Ava Max to drop the feisty remix of ‘Tick Tack,’ titled ‘Baby It’s Both (Tick Tack English Vers.)’ on Nov. 22. The catchy tune has already made a lot of friends since it hit the airwaves, and the remix featuring the American singer-songwriter Ava Max is finding its way to new audiences.
On Nov. 21, ILLIT took home the New Artist Award for the single ‘Magnetic.’ Their win was especially memorable since it marked the first time a K-pop act has won in that category since 2NE1 took home the prestigious award in 2011.
The 5-member group was assembled through the competition R U Next?, with Yunah, Minju, Moka, Wonhee, and Iroha emerging as the winners from dozens of hopefuls to become ILLIT.
