Today, May 13th KST, marks the official discharge of actor Lee Do Hyun from his military service. After diligently serving approximately 21 months in the Air Force military band, the beloved star is back in civilian life.

While Lee Do Hyun enlisted in August 2023, his presence in the entertainment world remained strong thanks to pre-filmed projects. A particularly memorable moment came at the 60th Baeksang Arts Awards, where he proudly donned his uniform while accepting the Best New Actor award for his performance in the film ‘Exhuma.’ His heartfelt shoutout, “Ji Yeon, thank you,” resonated deeply, serving as a sweet and public acknowledgment of his relationship with his girlfriend, the actress Lim Ji Yeon.

Their public romance blossomed before his enlistment, and Lee Do Hyun skillfully navigated both his career and his relationship throughout his military service, leaving a lasting impression with projects like the critically acclaimed ‘Exhuma‘ and the popular Netflix series ‘Sweet Home.’

Now that his service is complete, all eyes are on Lee Do Hyun’s next steps in his acting career. His agency, YUEHUA Entertainment Korea, has confirmed the immense demand for Lee Do Hyun, stating that he has already received a flood of offers spanning dramas, films, endorsements, and editorial features.

Among the most talked-about potential projects is ‘Grand Galaxy,‘ a new fantasy drama from the celebrated Hong Sisters (Hong Jung-eun and Hong Mi-ran). This series is generating considerable buzz as it’s positioned as a sequel to their immensely popular 2019 drama ‘Hotel Del Luna‘ – a project that played a pivotal role in Lee Do Hyun’s early career. In ‘Hotel Del Luna,’ he portrayed the unforgettable Go Chung-myung, a steadfast royal guard whose tragic romance formed a central emotional thread of the series.

YUEHUA Entertainment confirmed in April that Lee Do Hyun had received an offer to star in ‘Grand Galaxy,’ although a final decision is yet to be made. However, the prospect of him taking on this role, especially with the potential reunion with the talented Go Min Si, has fans eagerly awaiting news. While there were earlier reports suggesting Cha Eun-woo might join the cast, those rumors appear to have subsided. Production details for ‘Grand Galaxy‘ remain largely under wraps, with casting reportedly still in progress.
