BLACKPINK’s Lisa: How a Solo Collab Propelled Her Past BTS

BTS and BLACKPINK have been going nose-to-nose since the two groups debuted and achieved a level of international fame that has helped them dominate music charts around the world.

Not only did they manage to rule charts as K-pop groups, but their solo endeavors have set their own records. For example, ROSÉ’s ‘APT’ collaboration with Bruno Mars has earned a few Guinness World Records, making the girls a fierce competition to their male counterparts.

This time around, LISA has completely torn through a record that was set by BTS just a few moments ago.

LISA’s Maroon 5 Collaboration Reaches A New Peak On Adult Pop Airplay Chart, Breaking This Tie With BTS

The girls of BLACKPINK are currently on their Deadline World Tour, and the internet is buzzing in their wake. Apart from dominating our TikTok moments with both the live performances of their brand new single ‘Jump’ and inspiring a trend thanks to their unique music video for the song, the girls have been proving once again why they’re a force to be reckoned with.

In K-pop’s highly competitive atmosphere, the girls’ remain on top in both brand value and international presence.

This week, LISA continues this streak when her collaboration with Maroon 5 ‘Priceless’ climbed one spot on the Adult Pop Airplay chart, moving from no. 8 to no. 7. The song is already one of only five songs that credit any K-pop star to break into the top 10 on the chart. With its new peak, it now stands as the second-highest rising hit by any Korean artist on the Adult Pop Airplay tally.

Just last week, the Coldplay and BTS collab ‘My Universe’ matched the LISA/MAROON 5 combo ‘Priceless.’ ‘My Universe’ debuted on the Adult Pop Airplay chart in October 2021, and in the 20 frames it has spent on the roaster, it managed to notch the no. 8 spot on the chart. With ‘Priceless’ climbing one step, ‘My Universe’ has been demoted as the third highest song featuring a K-pop artist on the chart.

LISA Trails BLACKPINK Bandmate After Beating BTS

Now that LISA has knocked BTS down a step, she now solely stands behind one K-pop singer: her fellow BLACKPINK bandmate ROSÉ, who last year released an earworm in the form of the song ‘APT’ featuring Bruno Mars.

Even though it missed out on becoming the first song by any K-pop musician to reach the summit, it did bow out at no. 2.

However, despite not reaching the summit, it remains the highest charting song featuring a K-pop star on Billboard’s Adult Pop Airplay chart.
