In the often unpredictable world of live social media broadcasts, mistakes can happen in real-time, and BoA is currently navigating the fallout from one such instance. The singer has issued a formal apology following a recent Instagram Live session with TV personality Jeon Hyun-moo that raised eyebrows among viewers.

The incident occurred on April 5th when Jeon Hyun-moo went live on his social media account while BoA was visiting his home. During the broadcast, BoA, who appeared to be intoxicated, exhibited behavior that some netizens found overly familiar and concerning. This included leaning her head on Jeon Hyun-moo’s shoulder and making candid remarks.

A particular point of contention arose when BoA addressed the past dating rumors between Jeon Hyun-moo and comedian Park Na-rae. Speaking frankly, BoA commented,

“He is too good for you,” referring to Jeon Hyun-moo in relation to Park Na-rae.

Making such a statement about someone not present, especially concerning sensitive topics like dating rumors, quickly drew criticism online for being inappropriate and potentially hurtful.

Recognizing the discomfort caused, BoA took to the official fan community platform Weverse on April 7th to address the situation head-on. In her statement, she expressed sincere regret for her actions.

“I apologize to everyone who felt discomfort from my reckless words and actions and immature appearance shown during the SNS live on the 5th,” BoA wrote.

She specifically acknowledged the remarks made about Park Na-rae, explaining,

“First, I expressed my apologies to Park Na-rae for mentioning and making inappropriate remarks in a place where the person involved was absent, and I thank you for your generous understanding.”

BoA also directed an apology towards her dedicated fanbase:

“I am sorry for disappointing the fans who have given me love and support for a long time.”

Concluding her message, the singer pledged self-reflection and growth:

“I will take another look at myself through this incident and strive to show a mature appearance without forgetting the weight of the words I speak and the actions I take.”
