Did NCT WISH Address Attitude Controversy During M! Countdown Win Speech?

Spread the love

NCT WISH has had a rollercoaster of a week. Following recent criticism regarding their seemingly passive attitude during a radio show appearance, the rookie group found themselves in the winner’s circle on M! Countdown. And during their acceptance speech, their leader Sion appeared to subtly address the recent controversy, promising fans a better version of themselves moving forward.

ICYMI, NCT WISH‘s guest appearance on SBS PowerFM’s ‘Cultwo Show at 2PM‘ sparked significant online debate. The hosts themselves pointed out the group’s quiet demeanor and lack of enthusiastic participation, leading to criticism from viewers and even mentions in broadcasting circles. Many netizens voiced their disappointment, with some questioning the group’s sincerity and professionalism.

Fast forward to their M! Countdown win. As the group took the stage to celebrate their achievement, Sion, the leader of NCT WISH, delivered a heartfelt speech. While thanking their fans, Czennies, for their support, his words took a turn that many interpreted as a direct nod to the recent backlash.

“Our Czennies, to be honest there were many songs we felt were good while preparing for this album,” Sion stated. “I think we were able to win first place because of the love you guys gave us. And there are many areas in which we are lacking, but in the future, we will make up for that and show you guys an improved version of ourselves.”

While not a direct apology or explicit mention of the ‘Cultwo Show‘ incident, the phrase “there are many areas in which we are lacking” and the promise to show an “improved version of ourselves” resonated strongly with fans who had been following the attitude controversy. Many took to social media to express their belief that Sion’s words were indeed an acknowledgment of the recent criticism and a commitment to learn and grow from it.

The reaction from netizens to Sion’s speech has been mixed but largely positive. One commenter wrote,

“It’s not like they’re trying to sweep it under the rug — they’re giving direct feedback, and that makes me want to support them. I don’t think it’s something worth getting beaten up over, but I also don’t think it was appropriate behavior for an idol. I hope they take this incident seriously and only show us good sides moving forward.”

However, not all reactions were as forgiving. Another netizen commented,

“Meanwhile, the ones who actually caused the issue are just standing there doing nothing — what kind of ‘facing it head-on’ is that? lol. The leader is just trying to smooth things over with empty words. lol.”
