Actor Kim Soo Hyun‘s scheduled appearance at a fan meeting in Taiwan later this month is now uncertain, following a recent controversy involving the late actress Kim Sae Ron.

Taiwan Fan Meeting in Question Due to Recent Controversy

According to Taiwanese media outlet ET Today, Kim Soo Hyun’s planned appearance at the “2025 Sakura Festival” in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, is currently “up in the air.” The event, hosted by 7-Eleven Taiwan, was set to take place on March 30 local time.

The fan meeting was designed to be a special event, featuring exclusive merchandise like packages, cups, and cup sleeves adorned with Kim Soo Hyun’s image. A photo wall and a meet-and-greet with 200 lucky fans were also planned. However, the recent controversy surrounding Kim Soo Hyun and his past relationship with Kim Sae Ron has cast a shadow over the event.

7-Eleven Taiwan Remains Cautious, Hints at Potential Changes

A representative from 7-Eleven Taiwan addressed the uncertainty, stating,

“Currently, the event is still planned, but should any changes occur, we intend to respond promptly while considering the rights of our consumers.”

This statement suggests that the company is closely monitoring the situation and is prepared to make adjustments if necessary.

Potential Cancellation Fees Loom Large

If Kim Soo Hyun ultimately decides not to attend the fan meeting, he could face substantial cancellation fees. ET Today reports that these fees could reach up to 30,000,000 NT$ (approximately $900,000 USD). This financial implication adds another layer of complexity to the already delicate situation.

Taiwanese Media Speculates on Cancellation

ET Today has speculated that Kim Soo Hyun is likely to cancel his appearance, given the current circumstances. The controversy surrounding his past relationship with Kim Sae Ron has generated significant public attention, and it remains to be seen how it will ultimately impact his scheduled commitments.
