EXO‘s Baekhyun is facing harsh criticism following a viral post accusing him of jeopardizing the group’s recent activities. The post, shared on the popular Korean online forum TheQoo, alleges that Baekhyun’s actions, particularly concerning his involvement in the legal dispute with SM Entertainment, have significantly impacted EXO‘s planned projects, leaving fans frustrated and heartbroken.

The core of the issue stems from EXO’s anticipated winter album, which was reportedly scrapped due to the legal battle between SM Entertainment and the trio Chen, Baekhyun, and Xiumin (CBX). The trio’s unexpected press conference further fueled speculation that their legal actions directly led to the cancellation of the album and other planned group activities. This fallout has left fans in a state of uncertainty and disappointment, with many feeling that the group’s future hangs in the balance.

The viral TheQoo post explicitly states,

“Baekhyun, Who Ruined EXO and Still Makes Fans Suffer. EXO’s winter album—something they themselves hinted at in advance—completely fell apart due to the ChenBaekXi press conference and lawsuit, and of course, their comeback was scrapped as well. Because of this, there was no group Season’s Greetings either, and EXO’s fandom endured a painful time.”

Adding fuel to the fire, SM Entertainment‘s announcement of a special live broadcast to celebrate EXO‘s debut anniversary, excluding CBX and Sehun (who is currently serving in the military), has further aggravated the situation. The broadcast was set to feature Suho, Chanyeol, D.O., and Kai, with fans invited to suggest live challenges.

Baekhyun’s subsequent comments on the private messaging app Bubble have been interpreted by some as insensitive and oblivious to the ongoing turmoil. He stated,

“I’m good at challenges too… I want to do a live as well… Wish I had known in advance… Such a shame.”

These comments were met with significant backlash, with many netizens expressing anger and disbelief.

Netizens’ reactions included comments such as, “I’m not even a fan, but why is he acting like that… seriously, what’s wrong with him?” and “Did he cut ties with the other members…?? At this point, it really seems like he did.” Others questioned his behavior as a CEO, adding, “And isn’t he the company CEO now? Why is the CEO behaving like this?”

While the Korean fanbase appears to be largely critical, Baekhyun still maintains a dedicated international fanbase that supports him, believing he has consistently acted in the best interest of the group. This divide highlights the complex and often conflicting perspectives within the EXO fandom.
