In a recent and candid video uploaded to Boom‘s personal YouTube channel, titled ‘The Kang Ho-dong Victim Incident. Boom and Leeteuk Finally Talk about Stockings,’ the long-time friends and entertainers reminisced about Boom’s military enlistment, hilariously stumbling upon the origin story of a long-standing gay rumor between them.

The conversation began with Leeteuk, leader of Super Junior, playfully recounting the moment Boom informed him of his impending military service.

“We were recording on Monday morning, and (Boom) hyung was a bit late. Suddenly, he tightly grabbed my hand and said, ‘Hyung is going to the army next week.’ As a child, I was very upset. I see this hyung five times a week.'”

Boom echoed this sentiment, expressing his gratitude towards Leeteuk for being present during his enlistment.

“At that time, Leeteuk was there when I was enlisting. It was touching,” Boom fondly recalled. Leeteuk then chimed in, adding to the emotional memory, “Hyung was about to leave, and I teared up as a child.”

It was at this point that Boom dropped a surprising anecdote, linking Leeteuk’s emotional farewell to the unexpected rumor.

“Suddenly, I was crying. At that time, my parents didn’t cry. That’s when the rumor about me and Leeteuk dating first came out,” Boom revealed, much to Leeteuk’s amusement.

Leeteuk burst into laughter, clearly finding the origin story absurdly funny.

“What exactly did the comments say?” he asked, still chuckling. “They said it was a gay rumor. The photo came out looking unclear.”

The fact that Leeteuk’s genuine emotional reaction to his close friend’s enlistment was interpreted as romantic interest speaks volumes about the sometimes-wild assumptions made by netizens. Behind the celebrity personas are genuine friendships and human emotions that can sometimes be misinterpreted through the lens of online scrutiny.
