The police has finally ruled that there is no serious evidence of wrongdoing found against ADOR’s former CEO Min Hee-jin, after she was sued by HYBE for breach of contract. This is coming after a court ruling denied NewJeans’ petition to drop ADOR as their management team.
The question now is: what does the new ruling mean for NewJeans’ future with ADOR?
Could Min Hee-jin’s Breach of Trust Clearance Impact NewJeans’ Decision To Function As NJZ?
It’s been a disturbing few months for NewJeans and their fandom, to say the least. The girl group shocked the world when they held a press conference to announce that they have terminated their contract with ADOR.
Shortly after this news surfaced, ADOR pushed back, insisting that they have no grounds for a contract termination, and the misunderstanding soon found its way into the courtroom. Last month, the court ruled against the girls when they sided with ADOR and declared that there were not enough legal grounds for contract termination.
However, now that former ADOR CEO Min Hee-jin, who helped form the girl group, has been cleared, could the girls’ file another petition?
Min’s legal team disclosed the court’s ruling on Tuesday, writing, “the breach of trust allegations filed by HYBE in April last year were found to lack sufficient grounds for criminal charges.” They further added that the police has closed their investigation after determining that there is “no evidence of wrongdoing.”
This brings the year-long probe into Min to an end. HYBE filed the lawsuit, after ousting Min from ADOR, under the suspicion that she is attempting to seize control of the company, which is a subsidiary of HYPE, and in which they hold an 80 percent stake.
Min denied the allegations from the get-go, and three months after her dismissal from ADOR in August 2024, all five NewJeans members unilaterally announced contract termination with the company, citing Min’s removal and calling for her reinstatement.
In response, HYPE chose to see NewJeans’ move as one of the evidences of Min’s wrongdoing. “Following the police investigation, new developments have occurred, including the NewJeans members’ declaration of contract termination, and numerous new pieces of evidence have been submitted in related court proceedings,” the label told reporters.
