Liu Shishi Announces Celine Ambassadorship Contract In Latest Post

Many dream of representing the French fashion house, but few get to actually do so. On Tuesday, Dec. 17, Liu Shishi, also known professionally as Cecilia Liu, was named as Celine’s latest global ambassador.

In a statement sharing her joy of the signing with fans, Liu enthused that she’d always been “enchanted by Celine’s creations” for as long as she could remember. “For me, Celine embodies the essence of Parisian sophistication and utmost femininity,” she added.

The French fashion house currently has 42 stores in mainland China. In April, 2024, it further unveiled a 3,000-square-foot store in Hangzhou’s Mixc shopping complex.

The brand operates 178 boutiques worldwide and is distributed through a selective network including the luxury department stores Bergdorf Goodman (New York), Harrods (London), Galeries Lafayette (Paris), and Faradays (Auckland). Its brand ambassadors have included BLACKPINK’s Lisa for many years, with NewJeans’ Danielle, BTS’ V and newly debuted k-pop band TWS joining the brand in 2024.

Alongside its global ambassadors, Celine also signed actress Gengxi “Teresa” Li as a local ambassador.

How Liu Shishi’s Successful Acting Career Nets Her Sponsorship and Ambassadorship Deals

Liu made her acting debut in 2005 with the television drama, ‘The Moon and the Wind,’ set during the Chinese Republican era that featured a ballet segment.

However, her breakthrough role came in 2011 with the court drama ‘Scarlet Heart,’ where she played the character Ruoxi. Her character is depicted as a 21st century woman who ends up thrust in the Qing Dynasty era. During its release, the film became a hit in China, even crossing over to an international audience.

The project earned her a lot of awards, and even ignited her real-life romance with co-star and onscreen love interest, Taiwanese singer, actor and producer Nicky Wu, who she married in 2015. The pair welcomed a son in 2019.

Liu is also known for starring in the successful series ‘Xuan-Yuan Sword: Scar of Sky,’ which earned a total of 2 billion online views.

She has accumulated millions of followers across her social media platforms, and she remains one of China’s top and most well-known actresses.
