BLACKPINK‘s Jisoo has taken the K-drama world by storm with her latest project, Newtopia. This highly anticipated zombie-horror-comedy, directed by Yoon Sung-hyun of Bleak Night, promises a unique blend of thrills, romance, and laugh-out-loud moments. Adapted from Han Sang-woon’s novel Influenza, the series follows the unlikely love story of Lee Jae-yoon (Park Jeong-min), a soon-to-be-discharged military conscript, and Kang Young-joo (Jisoo), a rookie corporate professional. Their already strained relationship faces an even greater challenge when a zombie outbreak erupts in Seoul.

The first two episodes premiered on Prime Video on February 7th, leaving fans craving more.

A Zombie Love Story: What’s Newtopia About?

The drama kicks off with Young-joo struggling to adjust to her new job while dealing with her boyfriend Jae-yoon’s complaints about their long-distance relationship. As Jisoo shared at a press conference,

“The pre-production team showed us some incredible zombie prototypes, unlike anything I’d ever seen. I’m so excited to see how they look on screen!”

Unfortunately, their relationship hits a snag, and they decide to break up just before the zombie apocalypse throws their lives into chaos.

Episode 2 plunges us headfirst into the outbreak, as Jae-yoon and his colleague witness a plane crash and the subsequent zombie transformation at a nearby hotel. Meanwhile, Young-joo and a friend find themselves fighting for survival alongside a stranger. The stage is set for a thrilling and hilarious ride as the couple tries to reunite amidst the chaos.
