K-Pop fans heard some surprising news from Korean singer SoHyang, AKA Kim So-hyang, 47. She reportedly divorced her husband, drummer Kim Hee-jun, and kept it quiet for some time. Read on to find out what inspired her to come clean about it.

Fans know that Kim So-hyang married, but she couldn’t have children due to infertility following uterine cancer treatment. However, they didn’t know that things went south between her and her husband. The news arrived after she watched the movie KPop Demon Hunters. Apparently, a scene in the movie made her decide to come out with the truth.

Korea Boo cited her as saying to Eataly that the scene that touched her in the movie involved Rumi. She said:
Rumi, the main character, courageously revealed her hidden identity. At the time, I felt ashamed of myself for keeping my divorce a secret…I vowed to myself then that if I ever had the chance to share my deepest feelings, I would confess my divorce without hiding anymore. I wanted to be as courageous as Rumi
A Long-Kept Secret
It’s not just a publicity stunt either, because KQ Entertainment, her agency, confirmed it in an official statement. The statement noted, “So Hyang and her spouse decided to support each other’s separate paths after sufficient conversation and mutual respect.” Apparently, it was a mutual agreement, and nobody is blaming the other party.
The secret divorce actually took place two years ago. Separated in 2023, it might be the best-kept K-pop secret in years. This deception with her fans possibly troubled SoHyang since she is a very devout Christian and even sings Christian Contemporary Music.
Remorse After Hiding The Divorce
When The Brave Journey covered the divorce story on YouTube, which you can see further down in this article, the narrator noted that SoHyang felt remorseful about hiding the truth from her many K-Pop fans.
The narrator elaborated, saying that the popular singer felt “ashamed of hiding the truth.” Additionally, going forward, she hopes her music continues to give “comfort to others.” She also reassured her fans that they needn’t worry about her.
In fact, she hopes that her K-pop and Christian fanbase will not hold anything against her former husband, either. Probably, fans will be understanding. After all, it’s been two years since their separation, just that hardly anyone knew about it.

While Korea Boo mentioned that fans are being supportive, there’s not much on social media. It’s new news and hasn’t made it to Reddit yet. And so far, no comments have arrived on the YouTube post, either.
