The ongoing controversy surrounding actor Kim Soo Hyun has led to significant repercussions, notably the indefinite postponement of Disney+’s “Knock-Off,” impacting his co-star, Jo Bo Ah.

Disney+ Postpones “Knock-Off” Release

On March 21, a Disney+ representative confirmed to OSEN that the release plans for “Knock-Off” have been put on hold following careful consideration. This decision comes as Kim Soo Hyun faces intense backlash, with brands terminating contracts and MBC editing him out of variety show broadcasts.

Although Disney+ had not officially announced an April release, “Knock-Off” was widely expected to follow “Hyper Knife” in the platform’s lineup. The streaming service had reportedly been finalizing premiere details and press conference arrangements when the controversy involving Kim Sae Ron erupted.

Jo Bo Ah’s Comeback Project in Limbo

The delay of “Knock-Off” has directly impacted Jo Bo Ah’s highly anticipated comeback project. The actress, who last starred in JTBC‘s “Destined with You,” had generated considerable excitement for her role in “Knock-Off” following her marriage in October 2024.

Knock-Off,” with its substantial 60 billion KRW (~45 million USD) production budget, was anticipated as a major project for both actors. However, the unforeseen “Kim Soo Hyun scandal” has cast uncertainty over its release.

Jo Bo Ah’s Alternative Project and Kim Soo Hyun’s Overseas Schedule

Despite the setback with “Knock-Off,” Jo Bo Ah is also set to appear in the Netflix series “Tangum,” scheduled for a 2025 release. This project is now expected to be her first post-marriage comeback.

Meanwhile, Kim Soo Hyun has effectively halted his domestic activities amid the controversy but will proceed with his overseas schedule. His first official appearance will be at a fan meeting in Taiwan.

According to Taiwan’s ET Today, Kim Soo Hyun is scheduled to attend the Kaohsiung Cherry Blossom Festival on March 30, where heightened security measures, including the deployment of 50 police officers, will be in place.
