The legal battle surrounding NewJeans continues as the group has officially filed an appeal against the court’s decision to uphold a provisional injunction restricting their independent activities.
On April 16th, NewJeans‘ legal representatives, Shin & Kim LLC, released a concise but firm statement announcing their immediate challenge to the ruling. The statement read:
“The court has decided to uphold the original provisional injunction, and we have immediately filed an appeal against the decision.”
They further emphasized their commitment to the ongoing legal proceedings, stating,
“We will continue to participate diligently in the legal proceedings and do our best to ensure the facts are clearly established.”
This development follows the Seoul court’s ruling on March 21st, which sided entirely with ADOR, NewJeans‘ current agency. The court granted ADOR’s request for a provisional injunction, effectively preventing the members – Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein – from engaging in independent advertising contracts and solidifying ADOR‘s management position over the group.
Despite the setback, NewJeans and their legal team are clearly determined to fight for their ability to pursue activities outside of ADOR‘s direct control. .
The full statement from Shin & Kim LLC provides a brief but clear indication of their next steps:
“Hello, this is Shin & Kim LLC, representing Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein.
Today, the court has decided to approve the original ruling on the provisional injunction. Accordingly, we have filed an immediate appeal.
We will continue to engage faithfully in the ongoing legal procedures and do our utmost to clarify the facts. Thank you.”
