Fans of Netflix’s mind-bending survival series, ‘The Devil’s Plan: Death Room‘, have been buzzing about the strategic plays and unexpected emotional moments. Recently, two familiar faces from the show, actress Yoon So Hee and professional Go player 7high, joined the show’s victor, Ha Suk Jin, on his YouTube channel to spill the beans on their post-show reflections. And let’s just say, Yoon So Hee had some clarifying to do!

One particular moment that caught Ha Suk Jin’s attention, and likely many viewers’, was Yoon So Hee’s seemingly perplexing comment before the semi-final game:

“I hope that Jeong Hyun Gyu does not lose.” This led Ha Suk Jin to playfully probe, “Why did you say that you wanted Hyun Gyu to do well, instead of yourself? Was it the perspective of a noona looking out for a guy she’s interested in?”

Yoon So Hee’s reaction was immediate and clear:

“What are you talking about?!” She quickly explained the true intent behind her words, revealing her more reserved communication style. “I think what I wanted to say at the time was, ‘I want the 2 of us to do well and the other 3 to get out’. But I’m not the type of person who can say something so aggressive. That’s probably why I said it in a roundabout way.”

7high, ever the quick wit, playfully chimed in,

“I think that deserved some scrutiny. What kind of dumb comment is that?” Yoon So Hee heartily agreed, expressing her own frustration with how the comment aired. “I was also frustrated when I saw that my comment had aired that way. I was actually so frustrated with myself, but there was no one I could even talk to about this, so I vented at my younger brother.”

This led to further discussion about her relationship with co-star Jeong Hyun Gyu. 7high asked directly,

“So was Hyeon Gyu actually like a younger brother to you in there?” Yoon So Hee’s response left no room for romantic speculation: “At the time, he really felt like my younger brother. I am really close with my younger brother in real life. That was the kind of relationship I developed [with Hyeon Gyu].”

7high, seizing the opportunity for more good-natured teasing, quipped,

“Well it’s unfair for you to team up with your family on a show like this,” to which Yoon So Hee, with a laugh, humbly replied, “You’re right, I’m sorry.”

Beyond the strategic misinterpretations, Yoon So Hee also touched upon the emotional moment when she shed tears after 7high’s unexpected suggestion to make her 1st place. She admitted,

“I was so impressed by 7high over the fact that he came up with that move under all that pressure. I was also sorry. It was something I did not expect at all.”

Adding to her emotions, she revealed a sense of personal disappointment:

“On top of that, I was embarrassed with myself for how helplessly I had approached that particular game.”

What are your thoughts on Yoon So Hee’s explanation? Let us know in the comment section.
