The standard K-pop factory turns out highly polished, synchronized dance teams but Catch The Young wants to play a different game. Read on find out the latest news about them.

A Band That Actually Plays

The five-member South Korean boy band performs as a functional rock group. According to the database on Kpop Profiles, the line-up features bassist Sani, guitarist Kihoon, main vocalist Namhyun, drummer Jungmo, and keyboardist Junyong. They play their own instruments live on stage.

Now one of those instruments is taking a solo turn.

Guitarist Kihoon is breaking away from the main group briefly. He’s dropping a collaboration single titled “BLUE.” It features Kim Dong-hyun of the idol group AB6IX.

Reports state the track drops on July 20 at 6 p.m. on online music sites.

According to an article by Allkpop, Kihoon handled the writing, composing, and arranging himself. The song mixes his dreamy guitar lines with a swelling band sound. It deals with the usual struggles of growing up. Anxiety. Wounds. Hope.

A teaser clip shows Kihoon strumming on a rooftop while Kim Dong-hyun handles the microphone.

This solo project lines up with how the band usually works.

From Rebrand to Release

Evermore Entertainment debuted the group on November 1, 2023. The first release was the mini album “Catch The Young : Fragments of Youth.”

They initially called themselves EVERMORE THE YOUNG back in 2021. Line-up shifts followed. They rebranded a year later.

Since then their repertoire has grown as the 2024 mini album “Catch The Young : Fragments of Odyssey” came next which was followed by their 2026 release, “Evolve.”

Fans call themselves Catchers

The band labels their style “Youth Pop-Rock”  and they claim that they treat their music like a blank canvas by contantly switching things this up for their many fans.

One track might be an 80s synth-wave anthem like “YOUTH!!!,”  and the next one is a heavy track like “Amplify” or a soft acoustic ballad. That keeps it interesting for everyone.

Keeping It Raw

The group skips the usual complicated, abstract storylines common in K-pop comebacks by sticking with what works and what seems universally popular.

Musically they try to keep things raw by working togther to write and arrange all their music rather than using outside production teams that so often make k-pop groups all sound the same.

For their 14-track album “Evolve,” the members locked themselves in their own studio. They hammered out demos late into the night. They build songs out of real jam sessions which hlepd to give the music a rougher, more natural edge.

They also cut down on pre-recorded backing tracks and focused instrumental synergy instead. You can hear it in the guitar work on “The Young Wave.” Or the bass duets on “Amplify.”

Idol music can feel automated so Catch The Young tries to avoid that. They let their mistakes and live energy drive the performance and now, Kihoon’s new single seems to follow that exact mindset.

The track’s video teaser includes a narration summarizing their entire philosophy. “We’re okay even if we’re not perfect.”

Musiic lovers probably debate whether this approach can break through in an industry built on polish but for a band that plays its own instruments and writes its own songs, perfection isn’t really the point.

Kihoon’s solo drop arrives July 20. Fans can decide for themselves once they hear the full version. In the meantime, join the discussion and come back here often for all your Korean music news and updates.,
