4 New K-Dramas That Are Must-Watches

Spread the love

Are you looking for something to quench your K-drama taste? Perhaps you’ve just recently emerged from ‘Business Proposal’ or perhaps even revisited old favorites like I did – I’m talking ‘Goblin: The Lonely and Great God,’ ‘My Girlfriend is a Gumiho,’ ‘My Roommate is a Gumiho’ – all great shows, yeah, but now you’re ready for something new, something dramatic and something great.

We’ve got you covered. In no particular order, here are four K-dramas that are so good you’d be floating with joy by the time they’re over.

1. The Nice Guy

You might not have entirely missed the news that ‘Tale of the Nine Tailed’s’ Lee Dong-wook will be returning in a new K-drama that mixes action with music and romance. ‘The Nice Guy’ sees Lee Dong-wook as Park Seok-cheol, the eldest grandson of a third-generation gangster family.

His surprisingly pure heart sees him reform from his family’s past and reconnect with his first love Kang Mi Young (played by ‘About Time’ alum Lee Sung-kyung). The catch is, he’s going to be willing to risk everything for love and family.

I’d say that it’s giving me ‘City Hunter’ and ‘A Man Called God’ vibe, so if you’re a fan of either, run, don’t walk, and add this to your wishlist.

It will premiere this July 18 on JTBC.

2. The Art of Negotiation

Are you looking for your daily dose of ‘Suits’ because well, ‘Suits LA’ fell below expectations and now you want a new courtroom drama to cheer you up? (I’m not saying you’re depressed, but one does need their daily dose of “your honor” every once in a while).

‘The Art of Negotiation’ is the legal K-drama you need to get your life back on track. Per the synopsis, “The drama follows a brilliant but unconventional lawyer who specialises in resolving conflicts through negotiation rather than litigation.

While taking on these challenging cases, she navigates complex relationships and moral dilemmas.” Moral dilemmas, oooh mark me busy for the next few days.

The show started airing on JTBC from March 8, and you can stream it on Viu or Viki.

3. My Girlfriend is the Man

Perhaps you’re looking for something young and light-hearted, with guaranteed laugh out loud moments? Look no further than ‘My Girlfriend is the Man.’ In this contemporary rom-com, college student Park Yoon Jae (Yoon San Ha) navigates the true meaning of love when his girlfriend Kim Ji Eun (Arin) unexpectedly transforms into a man and begins going by the name Kim Ji Hoon (Yoo Jung Hoo).

You can stream it on Viki when it premieres July 23.

4. The Winning Try

If you’re moved by stories of redemption, friendship, human connection, or if one of the reasons you absolutely cannot get over ‘Kaiju No. 8’ is because of the wonderful team dynamics of the characters, then ‘The Winning Try’ is the right drama for you.

The show follows former rugby star Joo Ga Ram (Yoon Kye Sang), who falls from grace due to a doping scandal. “Years later, he returns to his alma mater as the new coach of its bottom-ranked high school rugby team and leads the underdog squad on a quest to win the National Sports Festival.”

‘The Winning Try’ will premiere on July 25 on SBS.
