The controversy surrounding THE BOYZ member Sunwoo‘s alleged rude behavior has escalated, with both the idol himself expressing his frustration and his agency, One Hundred, issuing a formal apology and announcing plans for strong legal action against malicious commenters.

The issue ignited after a video circulated online showing Sunwoo dropping his earbuds and appearing to instruct his bodyguard to pick them up without offering thanks or retrieving them himself. This seemingly brief interaction sparked widespread criticism, with many online communities labeling Sunwoo’s demeanor as disrespectful. The situation was further amplified when actress Nana publicly commented,

“He should be scolded,” on the viral video.

As public opinion soured, Sunwoo took to the official fan communication platform on April 13th to directly address the accusations. Expressing his dismay, he stated,

“But really, I would never do that behind the scenes. With all the fans in front of me, would I shout at the bodyguard to pick up my AirPods? It’s just absurd to me,” conveying his perspective on the character controversy.

Following Sunwoo’s statement, his agency, One Hundred, released an official apology acknowledging their responsibility in the matter.

“We sincerely apologize for not managing the situation properly,” the agency stated.

They admitted,

“We are deeply aware that Sunwoo’s image in the video could raise the character controversy issue. Furthermore, Sunwoo is calmly reflecting on the matter after communicating with us,”

and added a note of regret,

“However, we feel regretful that the situation has unfolded differently from the direction in which we and the artist are reflecting. We regret not managing the situation more actively before this incident occurred and that the artist acted rashly.”

One Hundred further emphasized their accountability, stating,

“It is entirely the company’s fault, and the artist is also reflecting on parts that had not been previously recognized. We will do our best to ensure that this type of negligence does not recur.”

While conveying their apology and acknowledging Sunwoo’s reflection, the agency also made it clear that they would not tolerate excessive online negativity directed towards the artist.

“The occurrence of baseless malicious comments in relation to this incident is something we cannot neglect in order to protect the artist. We are preparing strong legal action regarding this matter,” One Hundred firmly stated.

With Sunwoo publicly expressing his frustration over the accusations and the agency issuing a formal apology while simultaneously announcing legal action against malicious commenters, the focus now shifts to whether these actions will be enough to sway the negative public sentiment that has been building.
