BTS Plastic Surgery - Korea Despatch via Dr Youn - YouTube

K-pop group BTS is always under scrutiny, and their looks are no exception. There are many rumors circulating that the boys have undergone plastic surgery to enhance their features, and some fans even believe that they are addicted to cosmetic procedures.

Always Under Scrutiny

The group is currently at the top of the global K-pop industry, and they are always in the spotlight. That means that they are always going to be under attack from fans and haters alike who come up with wild and outlandish theories about them.

BTS get picked apart on their looks all the time. Some folks even speculated that the K-pop group may rely on too much cosmetic work, or have an unhealthy obsession with looking good. As one of the few global K-pop groups at the very top of the industry, the seven guys are permanent targets for wild theories and speculation.

Cultural Perceptions

Perceptions of cosmetic treatments also vary depending on the country and culture. Her Beauty wrote about it in an article titled “How Much Did BTS Members Undergo Plastic Surgery?” In it, they noted that “Plastic Surgery is far more commonplace and socially accepted in South Korea” than it is Stateside.

For the members of the group, minor cosmetic procedures would probably be seen in the same light as they do in the K-Pop industry in South Korea. Simply put, it’s just part of a beauty regime for a singer.

Per Digital Music News, a surgeon explained, “A large relative percentage of the South Korean population has had some level of elective surgery…Also operations like double eyelid [surgery] are very commonplace. But less of course among Americans. But culturally there is a difference here.”

Changing Faces With Makeup

Expert makeup artists create a look that could change in line with the boys’ development. Thus, making it look as though they have had a string of cosmetic procedures instead.

And so the rumor mill goes on! Online forums will always speculate about every little change that they notice about each of the guys.

Everyone Changes

While rumors and speculation have been going around as to whether Jungkook has had a nose job, or that Jin has had a jawline adjustment, there’s been no confirmation as to whether or not either of these rumors are true.

Surprisingly, there’s very little confirmation that any of the individuals underwent plastic surgery: except for RM, who had a septoplasty to fix a deviated septum. That caused him breathing problems.

Regardless, when we look at the boys’ physical evolution, there’s really very little to talk about beyond natural maturing and the changes that come with getting older. Weight loss from intense training, perfecting makeup and their style, and that’s it.

For those obsessed with the idea that they could have plastic surgery, the changing faces of the seven guys has really been nothing out of the ordinary for fans of the group.

As they grow up in front of our eyes, their faces are going to change slightly. It’s not a big deal. Shocking, right?

Doctor Youn Weighs In

When Doctor Youn discussed BTS and plastic surgery on YouTube, he said of Jungkook, “I think that he’s had a rhinoplasty done. I do think that it was very conservatively performed.”

But overall, if any of them did have surgery, it appears to have been subtle.

In the comments section, plenty of people wanted to say something about BTS. One of them pointed out, “The only thing that confuses about these plastic surgery videos is how little they consider a 10 year ageing process and what that does to the facial structure.”

Here are a few more responses:

  • I don’t care if they did or didn’t they are still super talented.
  • I’m full Asian and had a mono lid but now I’m old and have deep eyelid creases 😂 it’s called aging, no surgery needed.
  • its possible that their features just naturally develop over the years. i mean we are talking about over a decade ago. How can you look the same 10 to 15 years ago.
