The IVE premiere show WHAT I AM concert, showcased Jang Wonyoung and her new solo written number, “Eight.” Well, it got some mixed reactions, and various responses to the K-pop star seemed to indicate it was either too short, or too similar to other music. Read on for more details.

A Revealing Outfit

Korea Boo reported that many people felt that the singer’s outfit was way too “revealing.” Plus, the words seemed to be rather too close to rumpy-pumpy for the taste of some people. They cited some of the lyrics as:

And now I move, just look at me. Don’t be shy… Should I take care of you, kitty cat? If you want to be better than me, come forward. Let’s poppin’, don’t be too serious. Always cute, everyone else on mute…When you see me, your heart starts racing. Lie down, get lower, I got four minutes on my way

Look, it’s a catchy number and could get any party going. But more complaints arrived about other things. Sometimes it seems that K-pop singers just can’t please everyone.

Mixed Reactions To Eight

When the video landed on YouTube, the color scheme was mostly red, which seemed suggestive, as per the “red light district” implication. However, not everyone hated that. The sexy outfit, the colors, and more excited at least one Jang Wonyoung fan. They went on and on saying how much they loved Wonyoung, with plenty of red rose icons dotted around.

They seemed devoted, saying, in part: “I love you ️ BE MINE, Wonyoung I love you. BE MY GIRLFRIEND ️… I love you ️ LET’S DATE… CALL ME ️.”

However, not everyone had the same mindset about the K-pop star. More than one person commented that the music sounded similar to other artists. One person asked, “‘Make way, light up your heart’ <– Isn’t that the beginning of Fantastic Baby?”

Someone else told other viewers, “Someone said it sounded like a Queen Dongju song.” Then another critic said, “It sounds like a SiA Junsu song.” Then, others complained that the song was way “too short.”

More People Defend The Artist

Some fans decided that Jang Wonyoung deserved some defense from critics. One person wrote, “No one is good from the beginning. Don’t be discouraged by the comments. You can show a great side of yourself as a solo singer. “

Meanwhile, another sweet fan wrote, “SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THESE K NETIZEN , SHE ABSOLUTELY KILLED HER STAGE , YET THESE PEOPLE HAVE PROBLEM WITH LYRICS .GO LISTEN TO SOMETHING ELSE.”
