December 10 – YouTube
Simon Cowell’s new boy band, December 10, trashed K-Pop’s hottest group, BTS and immediately ran into trouble. Read on for more details and find out the opinion of a genre influencer.
The New Group On Netflix
You might remember that Cowell searched for a new boy band and, at one stage, it was thought the project crashed and burned. Anyway, it all happened, and the Netflix docuseries premiered a few days ago on Netflix. The Next Act is about the new boy band, but they hadn’t released a new number before the band got cocky.
While many outlets like India Times reported the insult to their readers, influencer K-Pop Spy ranted about it to her followers on YouTube this week. Furious, she talked about how the show went along with Cowell’s tired but successful method: teenagers were to be put together as a group to make a quick buck out of past success.

Running Into Trouble Fast
The seven-member band didn’t waste their time in finding themselves in a difficult situation. A band member made a very controversial statement about BTS. He boasted, “If BTS is able to sell out the whole Wembley Stadium in just five minutes, definitely, Pluto would be sold out in five minutes too.”

Later, he said, “No, I really mean it. They are terrible.” Immediately and severely, ARMY, the worldwide fanbase of BTS, responded to the statement.
Influencer Slams The Boy Group
K-Pop Spy, who regularly grabs at criticism and gives her opinion, said that the statement was a direct provocation to the fanbase of BTS. She added:
That’s a straight-up rage bait dis. Not even a clever one, just a random ‘they’re terrible’ drive-by. Even coverage of the backlash frames it as either rage bait or delusion because the line is basically ‘BTS sold Wembley fast so we can sell Pluto,’ which is not even an insult that makes sense.
Next, she opined, “It’s like he wanted to compliment them and insult them in the same breath and ended up sounding like a TikTok comment section.”
She continued by slamming December 10, saying, “And if it was intentional rage bait, congrats, you played yourself. Starting your career by farming hate off the biggest fandom on earth is like opening a bakery by spitting in the first customer’s croissant.”
A Backfire
Understanding that the ploy was clearly just that, it came off as a backfire. Antagonizing the biggest fandom in music from the very beginning of a career was playing with fire. Instead of creating a positive buzz, the event caused the group to be seen in a negative way from the get-go.
December 10, in the end, might have grabbed the spotlight, but for all the wrong reasons. They managed to antagonize a huge potential audience. Notably though, Simon Cowell wasn’t the one who insulted the opposition. But in the Netflix trailer, even he said, “The chances of this working are less than 10 percent.”

Fans React In The Comments
In the comments section, fans lambasted the new boy band. One of them joined, “Ego and attitude is the reason for the downfall of many big people!! This level of attitude even before debut.”
Here are a few more responses from the discussion that followed:
- Cocky against one of the biggest music acts before debuting is wilder.
- Watch them not sell anything at all lol.
- Oof trashing BTS is roughhh those are my guys and they make bangers frrr.
- The group name is genuinely one of the worst things I’ve ever heard a group called. Literally group names in school have more effort put into them.
