A Recap Of US Life

According to AllKPop, the couple started out enjoying some spicy seafood noodle soup and black bean noodles at a local spot, followed by a stop for frozen yogurt. Later, they showed themselves taking their son, Rook Hee, to attend a soccer camp before heading into Manhattan for a date.

While in Soho, the duo enjoyed some pasta and pizza at an Italian restaurant before doing some birthday shopping.

Birthday Shopping

The popular actor and his wife spent some time exploring Soho. Son Tae-young and Kwon Sang-woo squeezed in some birthday shopping for Kwon. Family members had sweetly sent vouchers for his birthday, so they headed to Aimé Leon Dore.

Of course, the South Korean couple is well-known, and even in the USA, fans call out to them. They bumped into a fan on the street who owns Moonlight Jewelry Store, and she gifted them custom pieces right on the sidewalk.

Talking about living abroad, Son Tae-young said, “I never guessed I’d end up living in America.”

The couple stood near the Hudson River and looked across at the Manhattan skyline. “It’s stunning,” she said, before recalling how when they first started dating, Kwon Sang-woo  had asked her if she would ever be open to living overseas after marriage.

A Nice Philosophy

You might recall that the couple did travel to Australia together to test out the idea. Explaining what inspired his dream of living abroad, Kwon shared: “Back when I was filming a lot of commercials, I was drawn to Australia’s natural scenery and laid-back vibe. It planted a seed in my mind.”

Kwon Sang-woo then said something that K-drama fans enjoyed very much: “Even if you live as an actor, time flows for everyone, and everyone reaches their peak and comes back down.” He added, “What matters most is the trajectory of your own life.”

Balancing Family Life

The couple has been together for nearly 18 years and shares two children: son Rook Hee and daughter Ri Ho, per United Daily. To prioritize their children’s education, Son Tae-young has lived in New Jersey for the past six years, while Kwon Sang-woo maintains a split lifestyle.

According to SBSStarnet, he commutes between South Korea and the USA while juggling family schedules. And he misses them when he’s busy with work.

Fans React

The video found a lot of nice comments from fans because they seem like a steady couple who live a normal life away from the spotlight.

One of them interpreted the message as, “He means that ultimately, acting is just a job, and your own tempo is what matters. That’s the key point!”

Here’s another comment: “A family of spotted deer visiting the yard-it really looks like a scene from a fairy tale! It felt like forest fairies came to visit and bless Son Tae-young’s family…”

Another person liked meeting the jewelry shop owner on the street. They wrote, “Meeting the owner of Moonlight Jewelry Store looks so lovely, just like a couple still dating. It is touching to see the two of you serving as a strong pillar of support while raising children away from home.”

A comment at the other end echoed, “A sweet and happy real-life couple. Enjoying everyday life comfortably and talking just as they are. I love it so much.”
